Choose example work you have done this quarter (e.g. Heredity Project) that demonstrate TWO of the following statements and then reflect (describe/explain & give examples) on how this work actually demonstrates the TWO statements that you choose.
S3B3. Understands asexual and sexual reproduction (e.g. in terms of how traits are passed to offspring- heredity, and the advantages/disadvantages of both).
Heredity Project
Asexual Reproduction -The traits passed to offspring by cell division (Mitoses). For the asexual reproduction there is just one parent. The advantages about asexual reproduction is that the disease won't spread easily and they could reproduce very fast and huge amount of them. The disadvantage about asexual reproduction is that the offspring is same as their parent and if one of them is mutate, all of the offspring going to be mutate.
Sexual Reproduction - The traits passed to offspring by sex cells. The sex cell join together and fertilize then have the offspring. The advantage about sexual reproduction is that everyone is different and if one species get mutate the offspring won't get mutate easy because it involve two parents. The disadvantage about sexual reproduction is that if one species get disease the disease will spread fast and quick , also the offspring can't not have huge amount and it need a lot time to produce it.
S3B4. Knows where heredity information is contained and the different ways in which inherited traits of an individual are determined.
Heredity Project
The heredity information locate inside the cell inside the nucleus inside the chromosomes inside there is genes which is DNA. The ways of traits determined is by the genes and by the environment factors. For the genes, most of time there is more than one genes involve and it make up the natural traits of individual Example: Eye colors. For the environment factors, the environment factors are the way individual lives, example: does individual lives in the place is not good or poor family, etc...
S3B5. Knows that the characteristics of an organism can be describe in terms of a combination of traits; some traits are inherited through the coding of genetic material and others result from environmental factors
